Shayla: Should we allow Lowlanders to serve on mission trips?

Meforshim:

All humans are to be called to come and worship the Lord. All humans should be invited to kneel before Him and lick the dust. Every opportunity we can provide the unsaved to humble themselves and serve God by serving others should be taken.

·         Psalms 72:8-11 HCSB  And may he rule from sea to sea and from the Euphrates to the ends of the earth.  (9)  May desert tribes kneel before him and his enemies lick the dust.  (10)  May the kings of Tarshish and the coasts and islands bring tribute, the kings of Sheba and Seba offer gifts.  (11)  And let all kings bow down to him, all nations serve him.

·         Psalms 117:1-2 HCSB  Praise the LORD, all nations! Glorify Him, all peoples!  (2)  For great is His faithful love to us; the LORD's faithfulness endures forever. Hallelujah!

Every opportunity to serve comes with an opportunity to tell the Lowlanders of God’s great works in our lives.

·         Psalms 86:8-10 HCSB  Lord, there is no one like You among the gods, and there are no works like Yours.  (9)  All the nations You have made will come and bow down before You, Lord, and will honor Your name.  (10)  For You are great and perform wonders; You alone are God.

·         Psalms 96:3 HCSB  Declare His glory among the nations, His wonderful works among all peoples.

As we serve alongside the unsaved, particularly in times of distress like disasters, we can assure them “God is in control, your world is not ending. He is going to make good come out of this.”

·         Psalms 96:10 HCSB  Say among the nations: "The LORD reigns. The world is firmly established; it cannot be shaken. He judges the peoples fairly."

God is Dayan Emet, the True Judge and He is characterized by justice.

·         Psalms 7:11 HCSB  God is a righteous judge, and a God who executes justice every day.

He commands all men, whether of the People or not, to pursue justice. Everyone will give an accounting, whether at the Bimah seat or at the Great White Throne.

·         Deuteronomy 16:20 HCSB  Pursue justice and justice alone, so that you will live and possess the land the LORD your God is giving you.

·         Psalms 82:1-4 HCSB  A psalm of Asaph. God has taken His place in the divine assembly; He judges among the gods:  (2)  "How long will you judge unjustly and show partiality to the wicked? Selah  (3)  Provide justice for the needy and the fatherless; uphold the rights of the oppressed and the destitute.  (4)  Rescue the poor and needy; save them from the hand of the wicked."

Anyone who does not practice justice is cursed. Would we deny a Lowlander the opportunity to practice justice, to serve the disenfranchised, and thereby curse him?

·         Deuteronomy 27:19 HCSB  'Cursed is the one who denies justice to a foreign resident, a fatherless child, or a widow.' And all the people will say, 'Amen!'

Hashem loves righteousness and justice. Any opportunity to give Him these gifts should be taken.

·         Psalms 33:4-5 HCSB  For the word of the LORD is right, and all His work is trustworthy.  (5)  He loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of the LORD's unfailing love.
