Shayla:

Can you give me insight on this whole “judgment on earth” thing? If Christians are in heaven with the Lord, are they then going to be resurrected, face judgment, then return to the Lord again?

Meforshim:

Though we escape the Great Day of God’s Wrath (aka the Day of the Lord) and we escape the Lake of Fire (because the Lord took the penalty of our sins upon Himself), we do not escape all judgment for “it is appointed unto man once to die after which comes the judgment” (Hebrews 9:27). To say that Christians escape ALL judgment is to say that we can sin and get away with it! I assure you that is not the case. Paul said,

  • Romans 14:10 HCSB  But you, why do you criticize your brother? Or you, why do you look down on your brother? For we will all stand before the judgment seat of God.

This judgment seat is generally known as the Bimah seat. For a better understanding of the origins of the word and its historical usage consider Matthew 27:19; Acts 18:12; 25:10. This is where the Lord will (as in the Parable of the Talents) require of us an accounting of what we did with the resources He assigned to us. This is “trial by fire” mentioned in 1 Corinthians 3.

I am not sure of the timing of that judgment. I am aware of multiple theories, but that is all they are. Since the Scriptures remain unclear (at least to me) on the issue, I will not rule on that matter. It suffices to know that we will undoubtedly face Yahweh Shaphat.
