Every generation of mankind has come face to face with the demands of Elohim Tzedek and decided to either submit to those demands or rebel against them.
Those who have humbly bowed the knee to His sovereign will have been taught what has been variously described as the Way, the Path, the Discipline or the Royal Law of Freedom.
You see, Elohim Tzedek is a sovereign King and to enter His kingdom is to submit to His yoke. It is an easy yoke and lightly born but a yoke nevertheless.
So, we dedicate ourselves to the pursuit of tzedekah.
Tzedekah is a Hebrew word that means doing the right thing at the right time and place for the right reason.
The proper reason, or motivation, is what we, in English, call “charity”, applying to giving aid (whether physical, emotional, political or monetary) to the needy. That is why the Ransomed follow a theology of compassion.
However, if we stopped there, we would have the wrong idea of what tzedekah entails because “charity” suggests the magnanimous acts of the wealthy and powerful for the benefit of the poor and lowly.
But that is not the proper understanding of tzedekah, because it derives from the Hebrew root tzade-dalet-qof meaning righteousness, justice or fairness.
The Ransomed are those who have been graciously declared righteous by Elohim. We continue to knead that gift of righteousness out into every aspect of our lives. We try to understand the ramifications of our capitulation. We practice tzedekah, not in order to merit the favor of Elohim Tzedek, but in response to His nature.
We desire to submit to His ways, and thereby, become more like Him. We are children imitating our royal father. We imitate clumsily, partially and without fully understanding what we are doing, driven by equal parts gratitude for His condescension and fear of the consequences of disobedience.
No one here claims omniscience. Here you will find no religious or denominational monopoly. What you will find is a passion for truth and a constant pursuit after God’s own heart.
Welcome to Tzedekah.
The path of the righteous is level; You clear a straight path for the righteous. Yes, Lord, we wait for You in the path of Your judgments. Our desire is for Your name and renown. I long for You in the night; yes, my spirit within me diligently seeks You, for when Your judgments are [in] the land, the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness.
